Welcome to Original Austin.
In the first decades after Austin was founded, a residential neighborhood began to take shape just west of the city's center. Generations of Austinites grew up here amid fine homes, shady streets, and schools the kids could walk to.The neighborhood is still here today, though parts of it have changed a bit. Its official boundaries extend from Lady Bird Lake up to West 15th Street, and from Lamar Boulevard to Guadalupe.
Since the 1970s, the Original Austin Neighborhood Association has been working to preserve and promote the livability of this historic downtown neighborhood. We hope you'll take some time to get better acquainted with it.
